UBC Pharmaceutical Sciences Building

The University of British Columbia’s new (2013) $133M Pharmaceutical Sciences Building is the result of a brilliant, pan-Canadian architectural alliance, and has been described as “a remarkable achievement.”

3DS worked with Smart Design Group and NGX Interactive to create “The Story of Medicines,” an immersive environment including a gallery exhibit, a constantly moving video wall, and an interactive zone, merging touch-screen technology exhibits with environmental graphics and story. Lifetime donor names are honored on a soaring floor-to-ceiling tensile sculpture representing the molecular structure of medicines.

Almost immediately after opening, the quarter-million square-foot state-of-the art learning and research facility was honoured with a Canadian Architect Award of Excellence and, soon after, with Wallpaper* magazine’s 2013 “Best Lab”’ Award.
