Haida Heritage Centre

This ongoing, multi-year project has brought a major world-class cultural centre to the remote Haida Gwaii, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, off BC’s northern coast.

3DS collaborated with D. Jensen & Associates, to create a place to celebrate the living culture of the Haida people.

In the words of the Haida people: “Through our language, art and stories we share our relationship with the land and sea – that which shapes, nourishes, and sustains us. Ḵay Llnagaay protects and fosters Haida culture by reaffirming our traditions and beliefs, encouraging artistic expression and serving as a keeper of all that we are. Ḵay Llnagaay is a place for the Haida voice to be heard. This is our gift to the world.”

Through the use of exhibits, interactive activities, and displays of significant historical artifacts, visitors to this 50,000 sq. ft. facility can explore the rich culture of the Haida Nation, from Haida stories of creation through to contemporary life.
