Reborn As A Modern Discovery Center: New Life For An Historic Landmark

Part Discovery Centre and part Natural History Exhibit, this unique South Western Real Estate Sales Center presented sensitivity challenges on several fronts. Kings Ranch Estates, an Arizona real estate property, is located at the South end of Cochise County, an area charged with American history, from Spanish conquests, Indian wars, nomadic tribes and Buffalo Soldiers, to the most prominent heroes, villains and Chiefs of the Old West. The facility itself occupies an historic 1939 adobe ranch house, listed in the United States National Registry of Historic Places.

Natural History Exhibit & Interactive Map Builders

3DS was tasked with showcasing the ranch property without jeopardizing any of the art and maintaining a respectful balance in presenting the various cultural elements. Native and other historic artifacts were assembled from around the county and integrated with the project’s message. The centerpiece is a massive wooden interactive map of the area’s natural history and numerous present-day activities. The map acts as a hub for tours and supports the project’s website and print materials.
